Lara Wiggins

Meet Lara Wiggins, Executive Recruiter

“It’s not just about hiring the right people,” TREW Executive Recruiter Lara Wiggins often says, “It’s about keeping them.”

Sourcing, recruiting, and hiring new team members requires forming and keeping relationships while following the correct rules and procedures and keeping track of myriad details. Luckily, when it comes to these kinds of tasks, Lara’s in her element.

“I'm very much process oriented and structure oriented,” Lara explains. “I like having those kinds of boxes to check.”

Whether she’s reaching out to prospective talent, carefully editing a job description before posting, keeping you up to date, or ensuring a process stays on track, Lara’s stellar organization and communications skills keep everything running smoothly.

The “Accidental” HR

“I started my recruiting career in the construction industry before moving to higher ed,” Lara recalls. “Now as a member of TREW I have the opportunity to continue to learn and engage with new clients from every industry!”

Industry insiders call people like Lara – who start out in different careers, then wind up in HR and loving it – as “accidental HRs.” Prior to joining TREW, Lara worked in the construction industry developing skills in marketing and sales only to transfer to the HR department and put her skills to work in recruiting. As a recruiting specialist, she learned the ins and outs of sourcing and recruiting candidates, onboarding new hires, developing education and on-the-job training programs, tracking metrics, analyzing data, and implementing workflows.

Lara has also served as a Recruiting Specialist for a large state university system. Here, she sourced and communicated with job candidates, reviewed resumes, posted job descriptions, and provided guidance on best practices and university policies to hiring managers, search committees, and key stakeholders. Lara also played a key role in building highly successful relationships with hiring managers and key stakeholders across the various campuses and HR teams.

Recruiting: The Best Part of the Job

Lara is excited about her HR career and bringing her knack for organization, prowess with processes, and communications savvy to TREW. But, she says, the best part of the job is the thrill you get when you match the right person to the right job.

“My favorite part of recruiting is building relationships with clients and candidates; learning how to best serve their needs by being a trusted partner in this process.”

Lara earned a BAS degree in Marketing from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
