When you’ve got big news for your employees – bad or good – and don’t know how to break it, Melissa’s the one to call. We brought her in to manage our operations here at TREW because she’s the calm, caring, and steady hand that successfully steers teams through launches, mergers, rapid growth, and crises with unflinching honesty, empathy, and a clear-eyed view for the path forward.

That ‘Extra’ Something

That modest investment paid off well for both her and her boss. But for Melissa, that was just the start. She graduated from college with honors and a degree in business administration and a concentration in healthcare administration, but she wanted more. While working and learning on the job as an executive assistant for a bustling executive suite, Melissa pursued her master’s degree in organizational leadership from Quinnipiac University.

A Servant-Leader

For Melissa, getting her master’s degree wasn’t just about getting ahead. “I describe myself as a servant leader,” she often says. What she learned gave her the tools and knowledge to become more effective as a leader for positive change.

“My Master’s degree just kind of confirmed what I knew all along. Where I needed to be was in a position of helping people.”

For Melissa, it’s not just about providing strategic HR support through day-to-day tasks like employee onboarding, performance management, and process implementation and tracking – though she certainly does all those things. She believes in leveraging her organizational development knowledge to execute initiatives while keeping elemental basics in mind like values, empathy, transparency, honesty, and caring.

The “New” Human Resources

When asked about her vision for TREW HR, Melissa responds:

“We are not afraid to stand up for what we feel is right for the individual and organization. We are excited and we are passionate about people and setting people up for success in their careers.”

Melissa’s career experience also includes compliance training, developing leadership programs, and implementing staff retention programs. She is active in the business community, serving as a member of the Human Resources Professionals of Central Pennsylvania.

Education & Qualifications

Melissa earned her B.S. in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration from Central Penn College and her M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University, where she graduated with honors. She is also an active member of Human Resource Professionals of Central Pennsylvania (HRP of Central PA).
